Better Homes and Gardens Ingredients:
2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons margarine |
1 large onion, thinly sliced and separated into rings |
2 garlic cloves, minced |
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper |
1 3/4 cups milk |
1 cup diced ham |
1 1/2 lbs potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced (4 cups) |
3/4 cup shredded smoked gouda cheese |
3/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese |
1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°. 2. The sauce-in a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat; add onion and garlic; saute until tender. 3. Stir in flour, salt, and pepper; add milk all at once. 4. Cook/stir until thickened and bubbly; stir in ham; remove from heat. 5. Put half the sliced potatoes in a greased 1 1/2 quart casserole dish; top with half the sauce. 6. Sprinkle with smoked Gouda and cheddar cheese; add remaining potatoes and sauce. 7. Cover dish with foil; bake 35 minutes; uncover and bake for 30-35 minutes or until potatoes are tender and golden; sprinkle with Parmesan; bake 5 minutes or until cheese is golden; let stand 15 minutes before serving. |
