This quiche has three types of cheese in it making it rich and custardy. It is very versatile. Any kind of meat, vegetable or herb can be added. I like it with spinach or asparagus. I've even fixed it with just fresh basil in it. Ingredients:
1 (9 inch) unbaked pie shells |
3 eggs |
1/2 cup milk |
1 teaspoon sugar |
6 ounces cheddar cheese, grated |
6 ounces monterey jack cheese, grated |
8 ounces small curd cottage cheese |
1/4 cup flour |
3 tablespoons butter, room temperature |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
1/2 cup diced ham or 1/2 cup cooked bacon or 1/2 cup cooked sausage |
Directions:
1. Beat together the eggs, milk and sugar. 2. Add the cheeses, flour, butter, baking powder and meat of your choice and mix well. 3. Pour into a 9-inch unbaking pie shell or quiche pan. 4. Bake in a preheated 400 degree oven for approximately 60 minutes. 5. If the crust starts getting too brown, wrap some foil around the crust. |
