A FRIEND OF MINE IN GONZALES, LA MAKES THIS AND I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT. AND ITS EVEN BETTER THE NEXT DAY.. ITS ACTUALLY COONASS RICE DRESSING, BUT I MUST BE POLITICALLY CORRECT! LOL! THE PICTURE IS A PLATE OF FOOD FROM NOTT'S IN LAKE ARTHUR, LOUISIANA. Read more . YOU CAN SEE THE RICE DRESSING ON THE PLATE.. Ingredients:
1-1/2 lb ground chuck hamburger meat (you can also use deer meat or turkey) |
1 tsp cayenne pepper |
2 cups cooked rice |
1 can cream of mushroom soup |
1 can of french onion soup (or cream of onion) |
2 stalks celery diced |
2 yellow onions diced |
1/2 cup chopped parsley |
1 cup green onions (bottom & tops) |
1/2 cup bell pepper diced |
seasonings: salt, pepper and garlic (to your taste) |
a little water |
optional: you can also add crawfish tails, cooked eggplant, chicken gizzards or oysters to this recipe ( she dont but some do) |
Directions:
1. Cook rice (YOU CAN THROW IN ONE BEEF BULLION CUBE INTO YOUR RICE WHILE COOKING) 2. Sautee all vegetables 3. warm soups 4. Salt and pepper meat, brown in a little shortening over medium high heat, stirring constantly, keeping meat scraped from bottom and sides of pan. 5. Add sautee vegetables 6. Add small amount of water; 7. add soups 8. Add cooked rice and stir gently. 9. Cover and let stand until ready to serve. Serve hot. BLACK PEPPER MAKES THIS DISH, NOT TOO HOT AND NOT TOO MILD, SO BE CAREFUL.. WORK WITH THE RECIPE. KEEP TASTING AS YOU ARE COOKING.. |
