This is a delicious blend of nuts seeds and cereals. This cereal is an ideal breakfast and a soul satisfying snack. This recipe was adapted from the original version by John Jacksaon of Royal Malewane luxury safari lodge They would serve it after the early morning game drive. Makes 1kg Ingredients:
120 g butter |
150 ml oil |
350 ml honey |
80 ml maple syrup |
50 ml vanilla extract |
120 g rolled oats |
200 g bran flakes |
200 g corn flakes |
80 ml wheat germ |
50 ml sunflower seeds |
50 ml pumpkin seeds |
50 ml desiccated coconut |
40 ml pecan nuts |
40 ml walnuts |
40 ml cashew nuts |
40 ml sliced almonds |
40 ml mixed dried berries |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 150 degrees celcius. 2. Mix the butter, oil, honey, maple syrup and vanilla extract in a large pot and bring to a boil over low heat until all the ingredients have dissolved. 3. Pour the mixture over the dry ingredients and stir well. Bake in the oven, tossing every few minutes until the syrup has been absorbed and the dry ingredients have crisped about 30 minutes. 4. Remove the mixture from the oven and allow to cool completely. Stir it REGULARLY during this time to avoid the muesli from clumping or setting in a solid slab. 5. Serve as desired with milk or yoghurt and store in a airtight container for upto a month. |
