The first thing I ever cooked really ought to be the first of my recipes to submit. It has taken years of trying different things with beans to find the perfect additives to make the perfect beans on toast. Ingredients:
1 tin of baked beans in tomato sauce |
1 tbsp cream cheese (eg philadelphia) |
1 ready cooked bockwurst sausage |
a pinch of dried mixed herbs |
2 slices of lightly toasted white bread, buttered. |
Directions:
1. Open the tin and pour the beans into a saucepan along with the cream cheese and place on a low to medium heat. Do not bring to the boil. 2. Slice the sausage into 1/2cm slices. Quarter the slices into triangles and add to the pan. 3. Give it all a good stir until the cream cheese has nicely thickened the sauce. 4. Turn the heat down to low whilst you place the buttered toast onto a large plate. Keep a close eye on the pan. Do not allow sauce to simmer. 5. Once the beans are nice and hot (about 5-6mins) turn off the heat, stir in a pinch of dried mixed herbs and immediately pour onto the toast. 6. Serve along side a nice cup of tea! |
