This is a recipe I got from my Sicilian mother in law, who refered to them as the greek cookies, I don't know why but knowing my mother in law a greek person probably gave her the recipe. But they are a favorite. Read more . Picture Marie from Everyone Loves Raymond and that is my lovely Mother in law. Ingredients:
1 lb butter |
2 tbsp crisco (shortening) |
1 cup of sugar |
1 egg |
2 tsp baking powder |
6 cups of flour |
3 tsp of vanilla |
1/2 cup of walnuts chopped fine (or put through the food processer) |
1 cup powdered sugar (confectionary) |
brown paper bag |
Directions:
1. Cream together the first three ingredients 2. add egg 3. mix in the remaining ingredients except the powedered sugar 4. shape into balls 5. bake at 375 for 15-18 minutes 6. allow cookies to cool about 5 minutes 7. fill brown bag with the powdered suger 8. gently shake cookies in bag to coat with suger 9. EAT!! |
