This is a fantastic way to to serve dessert - can be kept in the freezer until ready to use - Ingredients:
3/4 cup sugar |
3/4 cup water |
2 cups watermelon or 2 cups raspberries or 2 cups honeydews or 2 cups strawberries or 2 cups pineapple or 2 cups kiwi |
1/4 cup vanilla extract or 1/4 cup orange-flavored liqueur or 1/4 cup spiced rum or 1/4 cup lemon extract or 1/4 cup cherry-flavored liqueur or 1/4 cup citrus juice |
1 tablespoon mint or 1 tablespoon rosemary or 1 tablespoon lemon verbena or 1 tablespoon lavender or 1 tablespoon candied ginger or 1 tablespoon citrus zest, chopped |
Directions:
1. MAKE THE SYRUP: In a saucepan, mix the sugar and water. Bring to a boil and cook for 1 minute, stirring until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and cool. 2. BLEND THE FRUIT:. 3. Blend the fruit of your choice in a blender or food processor. Purée 2 cups of a fruit from Column 1 until smooth. 4. In a 9-inch metal baking pan, combine fruit, sugar syrup, 1 cup cold water, 1/4 cup liquid flavoring from Column 2 and 1 tablespoons of a chopped flavoring from Column 3. 5. FREEZE AND SCRAPE:. 6. Freeze mixture 1 1/2 hours. Then using a fork, scrape mixture from edge to edge, breaking it up. Freeze 1 1/2 hours more or overnight. Remove pan from freezer; let stand 10 minutes. Pulse in food processor until broken into small crystals. 7. Put in long stem glasswear to serve,. |
