My mom used to make these as appetizers for her holiday parties.Always a hit! Ingredients:
qty (2): 3 ft long (yes,3 feet) sub bread (mom used to special order these from the bakery) |
1 bottle of wish-bone italian dressing |
2 lbs.each: krakus ham,hard salami |
1 lb.american cheese |
1 lb.swiss cheese |
1 lb.sliced pepperoni |
1 whole head of shredded lettuce |
5-6 large ripe sliced tomatoes |
2 medium-large red onions,sliced very thin |
1 jar hellman's mayo (please no miracle whip-the taste is not supposed to be sweet) |
1 large jar pepperoncinis |
2 large cans sliced black olives |
black pepper to taste |
Directions:
1. Sliced bread horizontally,set aside. 2. Pour a decent amount of italian dressing on bottom side of bread. 3. Sprinkle w/black pepper. 4. Generously layer as follows:ham,american,pepperoni,tomatoes,salami,swiss,lettuce, 5. black olives,red onions,pepperoncinis. 6. Sprinkle more black pepper on top. 7. Spread a good amount of mayo on the top layer of bread. 8. Wrap tightly in saran wrap and chill for approx 2-3hrs. 9. Unwrap and slice into 2 segments. 10. Spike toothpicks thru tops of sanwiches to hold them together. 11. Serves...alot! |
