This is a FUN recipe to make for kids on Thanksgiving! Its not going to win a culinary award but I can assure you that it will be talked about for years to come! They are just too damn cute! Ingredients:
24 frosted cupcakes |
24 nutter butter cookies |
white frosting or decorator’s gel |
red frosting or decorator’s gel |
oreo cookies |
mini chocolate chips |
fruit leather, various flavors and colors |
toothpicks |
Directions:
1. To make each turkey, press the lower portion of a Nutter Butter cookie into a frosted cupcake for the bird’s head. 2. Use tiny dabs of white frosting to stick on mini-chocolate chip eyes and red frosting in a tube to make the wattle. 3. For each turkey’s tail, use a butter knife to cut out a 6 feather shapes (about 3 inches long and 1 inch wide) from fruit roll-ups or similar candy. 4. Take an Oreo cookie and twist in half. Lay cookie half down with frosting side up. Lay 6 of the feather shapes in a fan pattern on the Oreo cookie with the tips of the feathers extending about a 1/2 inch beyond the edge of the cookie. 5. Wedge the cookie down into the back of the cupcake to create the tail portion. 6. Place in a clean cupcake tin to serve! |
