Very easy to make and a crowd pleaser. There are no beans in Texas chili but feel free to include if you wish. My family has been making this Chili for as long as I can remember. It's great served when done but best the next day. Ingredients:
4 lbs lean beef or 4 lbs chili-style ground beef |
2 tablespoons oil |
1 large onion, chopped |
2 teaspoons minced garlic cloves (1/2 teaspoon powdered) |
1 teaspoon salt |
1 teaspoon mexican oregano |
1 teaspoon ground cumin |
1 (28 ounce) can diced tomatoes |
1 (15 ounce) can tomato paste |
2 cups water |
6 tablespoons chili powder |
Directions:
1. Heat oil in a large dutch oven or pot over medium heat. Add your meat. 2. Brown meat and drain grease. 3. Add the onions, garlic and cook until onions are translucent. 4. Add the remaining ingredients and stir well. 5. Bring to a boil then reduce heat so that the chili simmers. Simmer uncovered for 1 hour stirring occasionally. |
