Somehow this recipe sauce was AOL. I can't imagine what I did for sauce! I found this recipe in a magazine about 20 years ago, and it's a very good sauce. As in most sauce recipes, feel free to add your own special touches to it. On occasion, I have put a dash or two of liquid smoke. It's a matter of taste. Ingredients:
1 cup tomato puree |
1/4 cup vinegar |
1/4 cup catsup |
1/4 cup worcestershire sauce |
2 tablespoons brown sugar |
2 tablespoons paprika |
2 teaspoons dry mustard |
1/2 teaspoon onion salt |
1/2 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper |
3 dashes of your favorite hot sauce (optional) |
Directions:
1. In a 1-qt. saucepan, combine all ingredients in order. 2. Simmer, covered 5 minutes. |
