TEXAN BAKED CHEESE GRITS This is a recipe I obtained from an Estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Elmhurst Estate in Heath, Texas in 1981. Ingredients:
6 cups boiling water |
4 eggs beaten |
1-1/2 cups grits |
1 cup butter |
3 teaspoons seasoning salt |
1 teaspoon paprika |
1 pound grated sharp cheddar cheese |
1 teaspoon tabasco sauce |
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper |
Directions:
1. Cook boiling water, grits and seasoning salt together for five minutes. 2. Remove from heat and add all remaining ingredients then pour into buttered casserole dish. 3. Bake at 350 for one hour. |
