This dish is very tasty. Its a speciality of SouthIndian Ingredients:
tender jackfruit 1 no (about a month old) |
coconut 1/2 cup |
green chillies 4 nos |
cumin seeds 1/2 tsp |
turmeric powder 1/2 tsp |
garlic pods 5 nos |
coconut oil 4 tbsp |
salt as reqd |
for seasoning |
plain rice2 tbsp |
mustard seeds 1 tsp |
dry red chillies 2 nos |
curry leaves a few |
Directions:
1. First one must remove the skin off the tender Jackfruit and cut it into small pieces. 2. Cook it along with turmeric powder and salt. 3. Place grated coconut, green chillies, cumin seeds, garlic and curry leaves in a mixer bowl and run it once to make it into a coarse form. 4. Similarly, place the cooked tender Jackfruit pieces in the mixer bowl and run it just once to mince it again.(make sure there is no water. So that the tender jackfruit is not overcooked as the whole thing may get mashed.) 5. Mix together the coconut mixture and the minced tender jackfruit. 6. Heat oil in a pan . 7. Splutter mustard seeds and saute red chillies, plain rice and curry leaves. 8. Lower the flame and cover and cook for about 2 mins. 9. Remove the lid and stir well. 10. Continue to cook, till done. 11. Note: Make sure it doesnott get mashed or over cooked. |
