Tea Time Scones

This is my Mom's recipe for scones. I love these with a mug of tea and a bowl of fresh berries.
Ingredients:
2 cups all purpose flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cream of tarter
2 tbs. sugar
1/4 cup shortening
3/4 cup milk
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees
2. Mix dry ingredients
3. Cut shortening into flour mixture to resemble large crumbs
4. Add milk and mix together. Do not over mix
5. Knead 10 - 12 strokes
6. Dough will be sticky, form into round, flat shape about 1 inch thick and place on baking sheet
7. Score the top to form pie shape pieces
8. Bake 8 - 10 min. until slightly browned on top
9. I use a Silpat on my sheet and seem to get the best results with that.
