Okay, here it is...THE snickerdoodle recipe. I make these a lot during the holidays (they freeze well) and I get special requests from the family for these all the time. I once mailed one (just one) of these cookies to my brother-in-law in an envelope just before the holidays to whet his appetite for them! Read more !
Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
2 sticks butter (softened)
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
4 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 cup sugar
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350
2. In medium bowl sift flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt together
3. In large bowl mix butter and sugar with hand mixer till fluffy
4. Add eggs and mix well
5. Stir dry mixture into wet mixture, mix till smooth
6. In seperate small bowl mix cinnamon and sugar together
7. Roll dough into 1 1/4 balls
8. Roll balls in cinnamon and sugar mixture
9. Bake on parchment lined cookie sheet (one sheet at a time) in upper third of oven for 8 to 10 min.
10. Cool on racks
