This is another recipe that I haven't tried yet, but I do love anything with apples, and this is another that sounded so good, it's certainly on the to-do list!! Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups flour |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1/2 cup cold butter (no substitutes) |
6 -7 tablespoons cold water |
4 tablespoons sugar |
6 medium apples, peeled and sliced |
3 tablespoons butter or 3 tablespoons margarine, melted |
1/4 cup apricot jam |
1 tablespoon water |
Directions:
1. In a bowl, combine flour and salt; cut in butter until crumbly. Sprinkle with cold water, 1 tablespoon at a time, and toss with a fork until the dough can be formed into a ball. 2. On a floured surface, roll dough into a 13-inch circle. Place on ungreased 12-inch pizza pan; turn edges under. Sprinkle crust with 2 tablespoons sugar. 3. Beginning at the outside, arrange apples in a circular pattern, overlapping each slice. Make a second circle, facing the opposite direction. 4. Continue alternating directions until crust is covered. Brush apples with butter; sprinkle with remaining sugar. 5. Bake at 400°F for 40-50 minutes, or until the apples are tender and crust is golden. Combine jam with water ; brush over apples , serve warm. |
