This was my favourite biscuit growing up as a child in rural New Zealand. My mother baked most days so there were lots of baked goodies but for some reason these always disappeared first. Ingredients:
4 ounces butter |
1 egg |
1/2 teaspoon baking soda |
1 teaspoon cinnamon |
1 cup sugar |
1 1/2 cups flour |
1 cup chopped dates |
Directions:
1. Cream the butter and sugar. 2. Add the dry ingredients, egg last. 3. Put dessertspoonfulls on a cold greased tray. 4. Put in an oven which has been heated to 450 deg F, reducing the heat to 400 deg F. 5. Bake for 10-15 minutes. |
