I created this recipe because I knew that it would please my 5-year-old son, who loves pizza, and my husband, who loves meat and cheese. It's easy and fast to prepare, plus it tastes like a taco without all the mess. -CL Reader Ingredients:
1 (1-pound) loaf frozen white bread dough, thawed |
cooking spray |
1/2 pound ground turkey |
1 (1-ounce) package taco seasoning |
1 cup bottled salsa |
1 (2 1/4-ounce) can sliced ripe olives, drained |
1 cup (4 ounces) shredded reduced-fat sharp cheddar cheese |
1 cup chopped iceberg lettuce |
6 tablespoons fat-free sour cream |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 450°. 2. Roll bread dough into a 12-inch circle on a floured surface. Place the dough on a 12-inch pizza pan or baking sheet coated with cooking spray. Crimp edges of dough with fingers to form a rim. Set aside. 3. Cook ground turkey in a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat until browned, and stir to crumble. Stir in 1 1/2 tablespoons taco seasoning, and reserve remaining seasoning for another use. Spread the turkey mixture over dough, leaving a 1-inch border. Spread salsa over turkey mixture, and sprinkle with olives and cheese. Bake at 450° for 20 minutes or until cheese melts. Top with lettuce. Let stand 5 minutes. Top each slice with sour cream. |
