These are a big favorite of teens,for that get together on the weekends. Have lots of napkins handy. Ingredients:
1/2 lb. lean ground beef |
1 medium onion, chopped |
1 clove garlic, minced or pressed, optional |
1 can (14 1/2 oz.) tomatoes |
2 tablespoons catsup |
1 to 2 teaspoons chili powder |
1 teaspoon salt |
1 teaspoon dijon-style mustard |
4 large hamburger buns, spilt, (plain or with sesame seeds), buttered |
1 cup shredded chedder cheese |
2 cups shredded iceberg lettuce |
diced tomatoes and sliced black olives for garnish |
taco sauce, if desired |
Directions:
1. In a skillet, saute beef, onion and garlic until meat is no longer pink and onion is tender. 2. Stir in tomatoes, catsup, chili powder to taste, salt and mustard. 3. Simmer, uncovered, for 10 minutes or until most of the liquid has evaporated. 4. Spoon meat mixture over buns. 5. Top with shredded cheese and lettuce. 6. Sprinkle with diced tomatoes and siced olives. 7. Add taco sauce if desired. |
