GOOD ON A CHILLY NIGHT WARMS YOU RIGHT UP
Ingredients:
1/2 cup of dried kidney beans
1/2 cup of dried pinto beans
1/2 cup of dried red beans
1 package (1 1/4 - 1/2 ounces) taco seasoning mix
1 tablespoon dried minced oniion
1/2teaspoon of chpip powder or chipotle chili powder
1/4 teaspoon of ground cumin
1 1/2 cups of tortilla chips
layer beans in a 1-quart jar with tight- fitting lid.placetaco sseasoning mix,onion, chili powder and cumin in small food storage bag. close with rwist tie. place in jar. add tortilla chips
cover top with fabric. attach gift card to ribbon..
Directions:
1. 1 JAR OF TACO BEAN CHILI MIX
2. 4 CUPS OF WATER
3. 1 CAN(14 1/2 OUNCES) DICED TOMATOES WITH GREEN CHILIES, UNDRAINED.
4. 1 CAN (8 OUNCES) TOMATOES SAUCE
5. 1 POUND OF GROUND BEEF OR TURKEY (BROWNED AND DRAINED)
6. SHREDDED CHEESE,CHOPPED LETTUCE, SLICED BLACK OLIVES
7. BUY A GIFT CARD FOR THESE ITEMS
8. REMOVE CHIPS AND SEASONINGS FROM JAR ( SET TO SIDE) PLACE BEANS IN LARGE BOWL. COVEERWITH WATER AND SOAKFOR 6-8 HOURS OR OVER NIGHT (TO QUICK SOAK BEANS,PLACE BEANS IN LARGE POT COVER WYH WATER AND BRING TO A BOIL FOR 2 MINUTES. REMOVE FROM HEAT AND LET SOAK COVERED FOR 1 HOUR) DRAIN BEANS AND DISCARD WATER.
9. PLACE SOAKED BEANS WATER TOMATOES, TOMATO SAUCE, MEAT,AND CONTENTSOF SEASONIG PACKET IN DUTCH OVEN. BRINIG TO BOIL OVER HIGH HEAT. COVER AND REDUCE HEAT AND SIMMER FOR 1 1/2-2 HOOURSOR UNTIL BEANS ARE TENDER. CRUSH CHIPS AND STIR INTO CHILI. COOK10 MINUTES.
10. SERVE WITH CHEESE , LETTUCE, OLIVES AND SOUR CREAM
