Szekely Gulyas - Pork And Sauerkraut |

This dish from the old country will make your mouth explode with great falvors...best served with homemade mashed potatoes and bread to sop up the flavored juices. Ingredients:
1 large onion diced |
2 tbsp canola oil |
1 tsp or more paprika |
salt |
pepper |
1 lb pork cubed |
1/2 cup water or more |
1 large can of sauerkraut, rinsed and drained |
1 half pint of sour cream |
1-2 cloves garlic , chopped |
beef broth can be used instead of water ( i do this ) |
Directions:
1. Add diced onions to the canola oil and saute til transparent. 2. add paprika to get the bold red color. 3. add pork cubes and stir well to coat all meat. 4. put on low and let cook slowly, with out adding the water. 5. cook slowly til juices disappear, watch so the meat does not burn. 6. add water and cook til meat is tender, add more water if necessary. 7. when meat is tender add the kraut, cook for 10 minutes. 8. add sour cream and stir well. 9. serve with mashed potatoes and bread. |
