A delicious cake from our church cookbook Ingredients:
1 cup butter or 1 cup margarine, softened |
2 cups sugar |
4 eggs, slightly beaten |
2 (1 ounce) unsweetened chocolate squares, melted |
1 tablespoon vanilla |
2 cups flour |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
5 tablespoons flour |
1 cup milk |
1 cup margarine or 1 cup butter, softened |
1 cup powdered sugar |
2 teaspoons vanilla |
Directions:
1. In mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. 2. Beat in eggs and vanilla. 3. Add flour and salt. Mix well. 4. Spread half of the batter into a greased 13 x 9 pan. 5. Add chocolate to the remaining batter; mix well. 6. Carefully spread over batter in pan. 7. Bake at 350° for 30-35 minutes or until cake tests done. 8. Cool completely. 9. For Frosting:. 10. Mix flour and milk in a saucepan. 11. Cook and stir over medium heat until a thick paste forms, about 10 minutes. 12. Cool completely. 13. In a mixing bowl, cream butter and powdered sugar. 14. Add vanilla and mix well. 15. Gradually add the milk mixture and beat 5 minutes. 16. Frost the cake. Store in fridge. |
