A very good tender steak, with rich tomato sauce. I serve this with baked potatoes. Ingredients:
1 -2 lb round steak |
1/2 tablespoon crisco |
6 tablespoons flour |
1/8 teaspoon salt |
1/8 teaspoon pepper |
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder |
2 cups stewed tomatoes |
1 small onion (sliced) |
Directions:
1. Mix flour with seasonings. 2. Cut steak into serving size pieces, put steak into a gallon size ziploc bag. 3. Pour flour into ziploc bag, pound steak with a tenderizer mallet until flat and most of the flour is pounded into the steak. 4. In a skillet, heat Crisco until melted. 5. Place steak into skillet and brown on both sides. 6. Add 2 cups of stewed tomatoes and 1 small onion sliced. 7. Cover. 8. Cook over low heat or place in a 300°F oven for 2 to 2 1/2 hours, uncovering the last 1/2 hour to down the sauce to a rich thickness. |
