Swiss Roll In Strawberries |

The swiss roll is not widely eaten in Switzerland , where they are called Biscuitrolle . In Sweden it's called Roll-cake. The filling is often butter cream and strawberry jam . It's also called jam roll ,sweet roll and jelly roll in other parts of the world . Ingredients:
3 egg whites |
3 egg yolks , lightly beaten |
1/2 c caster sugar |
3/4 c self raising flour , sifted |
pinch of salt |
3/4 c cream whipped with 1 tbsp caster sugar |
2 tbsp hot water |
6 tbsp strawberry jam |
200 g strawberries , cubed |
whipped cream and some 50 g whole strawberries |
Directions:
1. Pre heat oven at 200 deg . 2. Grease and line a swiss roll tin with baking paper 26 by 30 cm . 3. On a clean tea towel place a baking paper 30 by 35 cm and sprinkle some sugar on it . Set aside . 4. Beat egg whites with salt until soft peaks form . 5. Add sugar and beat until it dissolves . 6. Add egg whites and beat until thick . 7. Fold in the flour and hot water . 8. Spead in the tin and bake 10 mins , until firm . 9. Turn onto the sugar paper and peel of the baking paper from the bottom . 10. Roll loosely using the tea towel as a guide and leave it to cool . 11. Now , unroll it . 12. Spead the jam and then cream on top , followed by the berries . 13. Roll again and chill . 14. Top it with whipped cream and strawberries before serving . 15. Serve with in few hours . |
