This recipe comes from a little book called ABC Jiffy Cookery. I've had it for over 50 years. I haven't cooked any of the recipes yet. I'm putting them on here so I xan find them easier. This isn't my recipe so I have no idea why there is no Swiss cheese in it. Ingredients:
2 cups milk, scalded |
2 cups bread cubes, tightly packed |
6 ounces american cheese, diced |
1 1/2 tablespoons butter |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/4 teaspoon mustard |
3 egg yolks |
3 egg whites |
Directions:
1. Mix the scalded milk with bread cubes, diced cheese, butter, salt and mustard. Beat egg yolks until lemon-colored and blend cheese mixture into into egg yolks. Beat egg whites until stiff and fold into first mixture. 2. Pour into greased baking dish, 10 inches in diameter, and bake in a 350* oven 30 minutes, or until set. Serve immediately. |
