I had this recipe for years...My mom would make it when I lived at home. This is an Oh... so cheesy, excellent recipe. I hope you enjoy it! Ingredients:
2 tablespoons flour |
1 clove garlic (halved) |
1 cup apple juice or 1 cup dry white wine |
fresh ground pepper |
ground nutmeg (optional) |
1 lb natural swiss cheese, shredded |
1 loaf french bread or 1 loaf italian bread, cut into 1 inch cubes |
Directions:
1. Cut cheese in small amounts, dust with flour, set aside. 2. Rub the inside of fondue pot with cut surface of garlic. 3. Leave remaining garlic in pot. 4. Pour in applejuice or wine. 5. Turn to medium heat, until liquid simmers. 6. (Do not boil) Add cheese in small amounts to the hot liquid, stirring until cheese is melted. 7. Add pepper and nutmeg. 8. Continue heating until bubbly. 9. Adjust heat to a gentle simmer. 10. Dip bread cubes in a swirl motion. 11. Helpful Hints: Let bread sit out, or use day old bread, it holds up better when dipping. 12. If cheese gets too thick, add more liquid. |
