Fragrant five-spice powder is popular in Chinese cooking and complements wild salmon's buttery taste and texture. Ingredients:
1/4 cup rice vinegar |
2 tablespoons honey |
1 tablespoon low-sodium soy sauce |
1 teaspoon ground red pepper |
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt |
1/2 teaspoon five-spice powder |
4 (6-ounce) salmon fillets |
cooking spray |
1/4 cup sliced green onions |
Directions:
1. Preheat broiler. 2. Combine first 3 ingredients in a small bowl; stir with a whisk. Reserve 1/4 cup vinegar mixture. 3. Combine red pepper, salt, and five-spice powder; rub evenly over skinned side of salmon. 4. Place salmon, skin side down, on a broiler pan coated with cooking spray. Broil 16 minutes or until fish flakes easily when tested with a fork or until desired degree of doneness, brushing frequently with vinegar mixture. 5. Place reserved 1/4 cup vinegar mixture in a small microwave-safe glass bowl. Microwave at high 20 seconds or until bubbly. Drizzle over fish; sprinkle with onions. |
