This is a sweeter version of my buttermilk biscuits. Great for breakfast or snacks Ingredients:
4 cups flour |
2 tsp baking soda |
4 tsp cream of tartar |
1 tsp salt |
1 cup shortening or lard |
1 cup white sugar |
1 cup raisins |
1 3/4 - 2 cups buttermilk |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 425F. 2. Sift the dry ingredients into a large bowl, add shortening or lard and cut up fine with pastry cutter. 3. Add the sugar and raisins. 4. Make a well and pour 1 3/4 cups buttermilk ,mix in to a soft dough 5. ( adding the rest of buttermilk if needed). 6. Flour counter lightly Flatten mixed batter to 1 thick. 7. Cut in to biscuits using a 3 cutter. 8. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown |
