Recipe from the Handley Methodist Church Cookbook. So many cookbooks want to save the recipes some way. Ingredients:
15 small onions |
4 tablespoons butter |
2 1/2 tablespoons white sugar (or brown) |
salt and pepper |
Directions:
1. Peel the onions and pierce each one with a sharp tines of a small fork. 2. Cover with salted water and boil for 15 minutes or until tender. 3. Drain and dry on a paper towel for thirty minutes, turning occassionally. 4. Heat the butter in a skillet. Add the sugar and cook 1 minute. 5. Toss the onions in mixture until well coated on all sides. 6. Place in a shallow baking-serving dish and bake uncovered for 20 to 30 minutes. Serve as a garnish or in the baking dish. |
