You can put this slaw in the freezer in several containers and thaw it out in the refrigerator. Ingredients:
1 head cabbage, shredded |
1 teaspoon salt |
1 green pepper, chopped medium one |
3 stalks celery, chopped |
1 onion, chopped small one |
1 carrot, grated large one |
1 cup sugar |
1 cup white vinegar |
1/2 cup water |
1 teaspoon celery seed |
1 teaspoon mustard seeds |
Directions:
1. Place cabbage in large bowl; sprinkle with salt; toss. 2. Let stand 1 hour. 3. Meanwhile combine sugar, vinegar, water, celery seed, and mustard seeds, in a pan and bring to a boil for 1 minute. 4. Cool. 5. Squeeze liquid out of cabbage. 6. Add green pepper, celery, onion and carrot; toss. 7. Pour dressing over cabbage mixture. 8. Put into freezer containers; freeze. 9. Pull out and thaw in refrigerator. 10. Makes about 2 quarts. |
