This recipe from Mark Bittman's cookbook How to Cook Everything Vegetarian is a great way to use bulgur for something other then a salad or stuffing. Beware, it is sweet but the spices are very strong too. Ingredients:
3/4 cup sugar |
1 cup bulgur, medium grind |
2 teaspoons cinnamon |
1 cup raisins |
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves |
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg |
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger |
1 1/2 cups water |
Directions:
1. Place water and sugar in a pot and bring to a boil; add bulgur, spices and raisins. 2. Cover, and continue to cook for 1 minute. Then turn off the heat and let sit 10 to 20 minutes, depending on the grind of the bulgur. 3. Fluff the bulgur with a fork. 4. Serve warm or room temperature drizzled with milk or cream. |
