This bread will make your friends think you're a master cook, when in fact it will be the easiest recipe you try. Ingredients:
3 cups of sifted (not packed) self rising flour (or 3 cups plain flour + 1 1/2 tbsp. baking powder + 1 1/2 tsp. salt ) |
1/3 cup sugar |
1 egg |
12 oz beer |
2 tablespoons of melted butter |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). 2. Lightly spray 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan with Pam non-stick cooking spray (butter flavor) 3. Combine all ingredients, mixing well. 4. Pour into prepared loaf pan. 5. Pour melted butter on top. (If you're not sure your loaf pan is big enough, the first time you make beer bread, place a cookie sheet under the loaf pan, to catch any spilled butter.) 6. Bake for 1 hour. Serve with butter and honey. Makes a sweet bread. |
