Her family's favorite ingredients inspired Tina Bentley of Houlton, Maine to create this sweet treat. Ingredients:
1 cup chopped peeled tart apples |
1-1/2 teaspoons water |
1/2 teaspoon lemon juice |
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon |
1 teaspoon butter |

3 tablespoons semisweet chocolate chips |
2 tablespoons brown sugar |
2 tablespoons old-fashioned oats |
2 tablespoons peanut butter |
1 tablespoon king arthur unbleached all-purpose flour |
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon |
vanilla ice cream, optional |
Directions:
1. In a bowl, combine apples, water, lemon juice and cinnamon. Spoon into a 1-qt. baking dish coated with cooking spray. Dot with butter. 2. For topping, combine the chocolate chips, brown sugar, oats, peanut butter, flour and cinnamon; crumble over apple mixture. Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 25-30 minutes or until apples are tender. Serve warm with ice cream if desired. Yield: 2 servings. |
