This recipe comes from a book called Molasses Inspirations - I found it in our local newspaper, and thought what a great gift for the teachers, the nextdoor neighbors, etc... Very easy to make and very delicious.... Ingredients:
3 cups walnuts (or a mix of all three) or 3 cups pecans (or a mix of all three) or 3 cups almonds (or a mix of all three) |
2 -3 cups molasses |
cajun spices |
cayenne pepper |
hot paprika or smoked paprika |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, cover nuts completely with molasses and bring to a boil for 3 minutes, taking care not to burn mixture. 2. Thoroughly drain nuts in a colander and spread them out on a parchment paper-lined cookie sheet. Sprinkle with spices, to taste, if desired. 3. Bake for 7-8 minutes (or until molasses become slightly frothy), then let cool. Break nuts apart and store them in a covered glass container, or put them in a fancy tin or mason jar and give them for Christmas gifts. |
