This was my Grandma McDonald's recipe and was handed down to her daughter (my Mom) and then to me. Whenever I make it I think of my Grandma and it's almost like saying 'hi'. It is a really nice comfort food dish, great for a cold winter's day. Read more . I like to serve it with Garlic Mashed Potatoes on the side! Ingredients:
3 lbs. pork spareribs |
1 cup brown sugar |
11/2 cups white vinegar |
1/3 cup water |
1 cup ketchup |
3 tsp. cornstarch |
1 tbsp. soya sauce (i use low sodium) |
1 tsp. french's prepared mustard |
salt and pepper to taste |
Directions:
1. Salt and pepper spareribs. 2. Cut ribs into individual pieces. 3. Place in a buttered roasting pan with a lid. 4. Cook in 350 degree oven for about an hour or until brown. 5. While the ribs are browning, make your sauce. 6. Mix together the sugar and vinegar, the cornstarch, soya sauce, mustand , ketchup and the water to make a paste or thick sauce. 7. Once the spareribs are browned, pull them out of the oven, pour the sauce over top of them and bake for one more hour until tender and yummy. |
