We made this with stir fry, and I had no idea how easy it was to make your own sweet and sour sauce (and how much better). We didn't have the pimientos, and it still turned out great. The sauce was so good it required a second batch to go along with the leftover stir frry. Serving size is estimated. Ingredients:
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed |
1 tablespoon cornstarch |
1/3 cup red wine vinegar |
1/3 cup unsweetened pineapple juice |
1/4 cup pimiento, finely chopped |
1 tablespoon soy sauce |
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder |
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger |
Directions:
1. In a small saucepan combine the brown sugar and cornstarch. 2. Add remaining ingredients and cook stirring until thickened and bubbly. 3. Once the mixture is bubbly, cook for 2 more minutes (continue stirring). Mixture will thicken. |
