Sweet and Sour Pearls (Onions)

This recipe for crock pot pearl onions sounds interesting and I'm hoping to try it. I'm posting it so it won't get lost. Source: Canadian Living's Slow Cooker Favourites. Preparation time is an estimate. If anyone tries this before I do, let me know how long it took you.
Ingredients:
8 cups white pearl onions (4 10 oz packages)
1 teaspoon orange rind, grated
1 bay leaf
1 cup water
1 cup raisins
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 garlic clove, slivered
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons water
Directions:
1. Cover onions with boiling water in a heatproof bowl and let stand for 30 seconds.
2. Drain and peel.
3. Combine onions, orange rind, bay leaf, 1 cup water, raisins, oil, vinegar, tomato paste, salt, pepper and garlic in slow cooker (slow cooker should be 1/2 to 3/4 full).
4. Cover and cook on low for 6 hours or until onions are tender.
5. Discard bay leaf.
6. Mix cornstarch with 2 tbsp water and stir into slow cooker.
7. Cover and cook on high for 10 minutes or until thickened.
