Great onion side dish served with pancetta or bacon, pr leave out meat for a vegetarian dish Ingredients:
4 large white onions cut in thin slices |
2 tbs butter |
2 tbs sugar |
4 slices bacon, cut in pieces (optional ) |
3 tbs water |
2 tbs apple cider vinegar |
Directions:
1. Soak onions in cold water for 30 minutes and drain well and pat dry 2. Melt butter in skillet over med high heat and stir in sugar, add bacon and cook a few minutes till crisp 3. Stir in the water and vinegar and add onions. 4. Lower heat to a simmer and cook and stir often until all the liquid evaporates and onions are softened. about 50 minutes |
