Another for the cabbage lovers this one is also a great way to use up leftover ham. Actually for a cabbage lover you will not want to wait to have leftover ham to try it. Ingredients:
1 small head of cabbage cut into quarters |
2 or 3 tablespoons butter or margarine |
1/2 pound ham cut up |
2 or 3 slices of cooked bacon crumbled |
1 medium oinon sliced thin |
2 tablespoons vinegar |
1/2 cup sugar |
salt and pepper to taste |
Directions:
1. boil cabbage in lightly salted water until soft 2. drain cabbage 3. place in a large skillet 4. add all the other ingredients 5. simmer 30 minutes stirring ocassionally |
