Ingredients:
1 pound fresh green beans, snapped |
1 small onion, finely chopped |
1 tablespoon butter or margarine |
1 1/2 teaspoons all-purpose flour |
3/4 cup water |
1/4 cup vinegar |
1 tablespoon sugar |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
pinch of pepper |
2 whole cloves |
1 bay leaf |
Directions:
1. Cook beans, covered, in a small amount of boiling salted water 20 minutes. Drain. 2. Saute onion in butter in a medium saucepan until tender. Add flour, stirring until smooth. Cook 1 minute, stirring constantly. Combine remaining ingredients; add to onion mixture, stirring until smooth. Add beans; cover and cook over low heat 15 minutes or until beans are tender. Discard cloves and bay leaf. |
