This is a recipe I obtained from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Crawford Estate in Quinlan, Texas in 1982. Ingredients:
2 eggs |
2-1/2 cups milk |
3 cups flour |
2 tablespoons baking powder |
1-1/2 teaspoons salt |
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard |
1/3 cup melted shortening |
1 cup all bran |
15 thin slices boiled ham and cheese |
Directions:
1. Beat eggs then add milk and mix well. 2. Sift flour with baking powder, salt and mustard then add to first mixture. 3. Stir until flour disappears. 4. Add melted and cooled shortening then all bran. 5. Dip slices of ham and cheese in batter and bake on hot griddle turning only once. |
