Instead of making tiny finger sandwiches for a party an ingenious cook came up came up with this brilliant idea, making 2 giant sandwiches and then cutting them at the party. She used this recipe for rolls and made 2 big flat loafs of bread, split them down the length, filling them with mustard, mayo and meat and bingo ready to go. Read more . Use this idea if you have to make a large amt of party sandwiches! Recipe for bread below, but use fillings and spreads of your own choice Recipe may be made by hand or in the breadmaker! Ingredients:
2 tbsp instant yeast |
1/4 cup warm water, 110 f |
1 1/2 cup buttermilk, heated to lukewarm |
1/4 cup sugar |
1/2 cup butter, melted |
1 tsp salt |
4 1/2 cup enriched all-purpose flour |
1/2 tsp baking soda |
Directions:
1. Dissolve yeast in warm water in small bowl. 2. In a medium bowl, combine buttermilk, sugar, melted butter and salt. 3. Sift flour and soda into a large bowl. 4. Pour yeast mixture into buttermilk mixture, then add to flour. 5. Mix well. 6. Let stand 10 minutes. 7. Use a heavy duty ABM that takes 4 cups of flour with no problem 8. to knead/mix the dough, just dump everything in and 9. push the button, OTHERWISE make the dough recipe by hand as one would normally do with the mixing and kneading by hand etc 10. Grease well two 9x13 pans. 11. Divide the dough into 2 pieces and put one in each pan, spread evenly. 12. Let stand 30 minutes, or until risen nicely. 13. Bake 30 minutes at 400 F or until golden brown. 14. Cool and use each loaf for party sanwiches by splitting each in half, adding fillings as desired,. 15. Then bring to party and cut into desired pieces. 16. Note: Find a large enough serving tray to put entire filled loaf on, then cut your sandwiches as desried 17. I garnish sandwiches with colored frilled party toothpicks |
