I got this from the cafeteria cook in the school where I worked - teenagers loved it so I figured my family would too! Every time it was on the menu the cafeteria sold out before the end of the lunch hour, no matter how often they increased the quantity. Read more . At my house it feeds 20 adults at a barbeque or 3 or 4 hungry teenagers as a meal. Ingredients:
1200 grams extra lean ground beef |
500 grams shredded old cheddar cheese |
750 ml catalina (or california style) salad dressing (regular or low-fat) |
300 grams baked tortilla chips |
2 heads iceberg lettuce |
Directions:
1. Brown ground beef and drain excess fat if necessary. 2. Wash and tear lettuce into small pieces. 3. Combine lettuce, beef, crumbled tortilla chips, and shredded cheese in a very large bowl. 4. Pour salad dressing over all of it and mix well. 5. Serve warm or cold. |
