My husband did the grocery shopping while I was sick. He brought home a sirloin steak and I didn't know what to do with it. I ended up with this recipe that got yums from the whole family. The prep and cooking times are just estimates. Ingredients:
2 tablespoons butter |
1/2 onion, diced |
1/2 green pepper, diced |
1 cup sliced mushrooms |
4 garlic cloves, minced |
2 cups beef broth |
1 1/2 lbs sirloin steaks, cut into 1-inch cubes |
2 tablespoons butter |
salt, to taste |
pepper, to taste |
Directions:
1. Melt 2 tbsp butter in a pan. 2. Add onion and green pepper and cook for several minutes, stirring often. 3. Add mushrooms, cook until almost tender, then add the garlic. 4. Season with salt, pepper, and any herbs or spices you want. This time I added a little rosemary. 5. Add beef broth and simmer while you prepare the beef. 6. Melt 2 tbsp butter in another pan. 7. Add the sirloin cubes and brown on all sides. 8. Pour the beef mixture into the broth mixture, and simmer until the beef is cooked to your liking. 9. Serve over hot, cooked rice. |
