This unique and amazing candy makes a great gift Ingredients:
2 cups sugar |
1 cup light corn syrup |
1/2 cup water |
1 1/2 cups sunflower seeds |
1 tablespoon butter |
1 teaspoon vanilla extract |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
Directions:
1. Butter the sides of a heavy saucepan. 2. add Sugar, corn syrup and water and bring to a boil, stirring constantly. 3. cook and stir over medium low heat until candy thermometer reads 260 degrees. 4. stir in sunflower seeds and butter quickly. 5. cook until 300 degrees. 6. remove from heat and stir in vanilla and baking soda. 7. pour into a buttered baking pan and spread evenly. 8. cool completly and break into pieces. |
