Such an easy recipe with wonderful flavor! Best of all, it makes it's own gravy. Adapted from a recipe found in an old copy of a Farm Journal cookbook. Ideal for freeze ahead meals or carry in supper dishes. Ingredients:
1 1/2 lbs round steaks or 1 1/2 lbs beef eye round |
1 (16 ounce) can tomato sauce |
1 (16 ounce) can chef boyardee pizza sauce |
1/2 cup flour |
1 teaspoon salt (to taste) |
1/4 teaspoon pepper (to taste) |
1/4 cup olive oil |
Directions:
1. Trim meat of excess fat and cut in to serving size pieces. Combine flour, salt and pepper. Coat meat with flour mixture. Heat olive oil in large skillet. Add meat and brown on both sides. Drain. Place in crock pot. Cover with tomato and pizza sauce. Cook on low until tender, usually 4 to 6 hours. Serve with mashed potatoes. |
