SUGAR PIE This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Scroggins Estate in Royse City, Texas in 1992. Ingredients:
1 unbaked pie shell |
1/2 cup granulated sugar |
3/4 cup flour |
1 tablespoons butter |
1 tablespoon lard |
2 teaspoons baking powder |
1 small egg beaten |
1/4 cup milk |
1/8 teaspoon salt |
1 tablespoon lemon juice |
Directions:
1. Combine sugar, flour, butter and lard and with your figures work mixture into fine crumbs. 2. Set aside 1/4 cup for top crumbs. 3. To the remainder of crumbs add baking powder, beaten egg, milk, salt and lemon juice. 4. Mix well and turn into unbaked pastry shell then top with reserved crumbs. 5. Bake for 35 minutes at 375. |
