From a magazine clipping, these were demolished at Christmastime! Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter, softened |
1/2 cup vegetable shortening |
1/2 cup sugar |
1/2 teaspoon baking powder |
1 large egg |
1 teaspoon vanilla extract |
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour |
Directions:
1. Beat first 4 ingredients in a large bowl with electric mixer until blended. 2. Beat in egg and 1 tsp. vanilla until fluffy. 3. Stir in flour just until blended. 4. Divide dough in half. 5. Wrap separately; chill 30 minutes. 6. Roll out 1/2 at a time on floured surface to 1/4 inch thickness. 7. Cut cookie with cutter. 8. Place 1/2 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets. 9. Bake in a 350° oven 10 minutes or until bottoms are golden. 10. Remove to rack to cool. 11. Decorate as desired. |
