A unique treat that was made by my grandma for Thanksgiving or Christmas! Ingredients:
1/4c warm water |
1pkg yeast |
3/4c lukewarm milk |
1/4c sugar |
1tsp salt |
2 eggs |
1/4c soft shortening |
3 1/2 - 4c flour |
Directions:
1. Dissolve yeast in water. 2. Stir in: milk, sugar, salt, eggs, shortening, and half of flour. 3. Mix until smooth. 4. Add the rest of the flour an mix by hand. 5. Knead on lightly board until smooth and blistered(5 mins). 6. Place in greased bowl and cover. 7. Let rise 1 1/2 - 2 hours or until doubled in bulk. 8. Punch down and let rise again for 45 minutes. 9. Divide into 12 - 14 balls 2 in diameter(2/3 dough). 10. Place in well greased muffin cups. 11. Form the rest of the dough into small balls, set firmly on th large ones. 12. Let rise 30 minutes. 13. Brush with glaze and bake for 20 - 25 minutes at 350 degrees. |
