this stuffing uses whatever bread products you may have leftover in your house. i just happened to have the following and tossed it in. p.s. this was my very first attempt at making my own stuffing. i normally loathe stuffing, but this really grows on you. |
4 garlic cloves, diced |
1 large red bell pepper, seeds and veins removed, diced |
2 slices of white bread end pieces, broken into bits |
6 saltine crackers, crumbled |
1 1/2 cups matzoh meal |
2 cups bread crumbs |
1 packet of mushroom soup powdered mix |
2 tbspns balsamic vinegar |
1 tbspn olive oil |
2 eggs |
1 palm's worth of tarragon, basil, rosemary, thyme, smoked sea salt and ground black pepper |
suggestions: chopped chestnuts, white raisins and/or bacon bits would go excellent with this recipe to make the tastes even more complex. |
Directions:
1. Sautee diced red pepper and garlic in Olive oil over medium heat until golden and fragrent, 5-7 minutes. Add extra Balsamic and spices to it if you wish. 2. In the meantime, mix all the other ingredients in a large mixing bowl. 3. Let pepper/garlic mixture cool slightly, add to the mixture and blend well, adding more bread products to create a desired consistency. 4. Stuff the bird and bake. 5. Serve with appropriate gravy. |
